“Camden Chatter” is a series of blog posts by Rutgers-Camden PhD Candidate Christopher Wheeler on the “chatter” on social media about Camden. Here are his thoughts on the past week’s top stories (Editor’s note: I know there’s some controversy over whether “food deserts” make definitional sense in cities because they undercount neighborhood groceries and that some folks are very attached to locally owned spots such as Cousin’s, but I wanted to post this because folks are “chatting” about it):

  • There are some advantages to grocery shopping weekly. When you shop weekly you have a routine of what day you shop and you can make the best use of
    any weekly sales that are offered at your store. Also many items like milk and fresh vegetables need to be used within about a week.

  • It’s great that there are two supermarkets on their way to Camden. It’s been a shame that none has been in the city. And it’s frustrating that the Fresh Grocer signed a letter of intent and then decided to pull out of the Haddon Avenue Transit Village.
