I’m happy to say that we’re getting a little publicity in this corner of Cooper Street. Next City, one of my favorite places to read and write about cities, did a little write up about Rutgers-Camden and this blog.

I wanted to share these excerpts (but by all means, go read the whole thing):

Local Knowledge, which launched today with a rutgers.edu domain name, will feature writing about the importance of knowing all about your city — and listening to the community members who probably know more. It will deal with hyper-local issues that don’t always make it to the media’s radar, Danley said, right down to block parties and dog poop.

And:

“It’s blown me away how much good work is being done at Rutgers, particularly by students,” he said. From time to time Local Knowledge will showcase the efforts of Rutgers students and faculty in the city.

  • I shared your post about the Camden Board of Ed meeting with my old staff from Lanning Square School. Several wrote back that the link ” couldn’t be found”. I told them to search for your name at rutgers.org. It worked for me but the links NEED to be working. These teachers are overwhelmed as I am sure you know. The union is nearly disfunctional but there are folks willing to work at sharing info and fighting an almost impossible situation. I am a retired teacher and former CEA rep. If you have active GOOD links for your articles please share them again or send them to me…I will get them on the facebook groups of our active teachers and share information. Thanks for the good work you are doing. Jane (Kandy) Lippincott – cell: 609-922-0176

    • Thanks for the comment. I’m still working on the technical pieces of the blogging, and occasionally there are bugs. I’ve been doing my best keep up with everything (this is growing faster than I expected!) and I hope this won’t be a problem in the future.
