Last week we talked a bit about where these critiques about slavery and segregation take us. That conversation is continuing on our campus this Friday at a conference titled: “Dismantling the Architecture of Segregation”. Please join us!

One of the reasons I’m so excited about this conference is because I’ve been thinking (and reading, and writing) a lot about how segregation affects the day-to-day elements of policy in cities. My sense is that there are implications for day-to-day interactions that we’ve only begun to scratch the surface on.

The conference starts to dive into that. It talks housing, and schools, and land use, and homelessness. There are a bunch of scholars on the list I look up to. And I can’t wait to see how they’re navigating this same space in their work as I am.

Hope to see you there — come say hi if you make it!
